Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born in Manhattan, New York City, to socialites Anna Rebecca Hall and Elliott Roosevelt. She was First Lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945. Her activism in this role redefined the role of First Lady. She served as U.S. Delegate to the United Nations from 1945-1952. Married to President Franklin Roosevelt, she was also the niece of President Theodore Roosevelt. She was the author of 27 books.

She was the recipient of many honors and awards, both in life and posthumously. She died of cardiac failure in 1962.

Since her first census was the 1890 census, we need to look for the 1900 census, as the 1890 census was destroyed in a fire. We do find her in the 1901 census of the United Kingdom where she attended the Allenswood Academy, a private finishing school in Wimbledon, London.
